Load Moment Indicators

KRÜGER Load Moment Indicators for Hydraulic Cranes are well known for their reliability, accuracy, ease of operation and clear display of data.

KRÜGER Load Moment Indicators for Lattice Boom Cranes meet the requirements best and provide the reliability the operator needs to give undivided attention to the job on hand.

KRÜGER Load Moment Indicators for On-Shore and Off-Shore Cranes feature reliability and excellent accuracy by the use of different sensors to take the load information from the load hoisting line, the boom suspension line or the winch frame.

The KRÜGER Load Moment Indicator (LMI) System Mark 4E/2 for mobile and stationary cranes combines the “user friendly” operator set up with a compact design. The calibration can be done easily menu-controlled via the operating console. There is no need for specific tools or knowledge. The load moment is displayed by a clear analogue LED bargraph in traffic-light colours. The digital LC display informs the operator about important actual crane data: Crane Configuration, Radius, actual Load, Parts of Line, Boom Length or Angle, rated Load.

KRÜGER Boom Length and Angle Sensors (Spring-type Cable Reels) with integrated slipring collector are available for different lengths of boom extensions from 10 m, 15 m, 24 m, and 34 m to 56 m.

The KRÜGER Mark 4K System combines simple operation and a clear display of information with an exceptional capacity for special features for both Hydraulic and Lattice boom Cranes. The standard operating display shows the

  • actual crane configuration code number
  • actual crane configuration in concise text
  • load radius
  • boom angle to the horizontal
  • boom length
  • parts of load hoisting line
  • rated load
  • actual load load moment by bar graph.

Detailed display of service data, an integrated data logger with downloading to retrieve vital crane data and many other expansion options are available.

KRÜGER Load Pins with Integrated Amplifier are to measure the actual loading by the use of customized, strain gauge equipped pins made of high grade tensile steel. Alternatively, PAT offers a full range of different tension and compression load cells.

KRÜGER Indicators for On-Shore and Off-Shore Cranes are available with a large analogue load moment meter and corresponding alarm lights. The additional meters for radius and load or load related information are offered in digital design.
For special applications (e.g. Windspeed), additional analogue display units are available.
Together with our programmable switching amplifier PSA 3/1, the harbour crane display is the main part of a complete harbour crane LMI system.

And Load Weighing Equipment

KRÜGER Load Moment Indicators for Reach Stackers provide significant data for the container management beside their safety-function.

KRÜGER Load Moment Indicators for Excavators offer two Functions in one: The safety function to prevent from tipping over and the load totalizer function to measure the turnover of material.

KRÜGER Load Indicators for Forklifts tell the operator the weight of each load lifted and offer protection against overloading, thus reducing downtime and expensive repair costs.

The MK4E/2R is a version of our MK4E/2 specially developed for reach stackers and thus offers the same advantages for simple and safe operations. Furthermore, the MK4E/2R offers additional functions:

  • load totalizer function, to measure container turnover
  • possibility of recording container numbers and other relevant data for container management
  • storage of these data, weight and stacking height of the container and sales volume with details of time and date
  • printout and download of all data on the job.

KRÜGER Hydraulic Pressure Sensors with integrated Amplifier are to measure the pressure at the piston and rod side of the boom lift cylinders to determine the load on hydraulic cranes. They are available from 125 bar, 250 bar, and 375 bar to 500 bar.

MK4E for excavators is designed for all excavators or loading machines with a two-part boom (monoblock construction) working in hook-, grab- or bucket mode. Therefore it measures the hydraulic pressure of the cylinder and the 2 angles of the boom.

With this information, it will detect dangerous situations such as tipping over when the machine is used to carry loads on a hook.
The load totalizer function counts up the single loads and therefore measures the total material turnover when the excavator is used to work with payloads.

Optionally, the payload information can be printed out on paper together with date, time and two reference texts such as customer name, account numbers or material reference. Beside the traffic light LED-Bargraph load moment indication, the displayed information is the load, the rated load the tip height or the radius of the boom and the number of the configuration chosen.
The totalised load is shown once a single load is added to the total.

The KRÜGER basic Load Indicator BLI features a 6-character LC-display together with a taring push-button. Based on the most reliable components it offers an excellent price/performance ratio. It is also possible to enter a load limit in order to warn the operator and protect the forklift against overload. An integrated relay will consequently stop the machine.

The upgraded version Basic Payload Control can also totalize the single loads and therefore measure the daily flow of incoming and outgoing payloads.

The KRÜGER Compression Load Cells of ringtype design for installation at the forklift’s chain anchorage are well known for their high degree of precision and exceptional reliability. They are very easy to install and by so reduce installation time to a minimum.

Overload Protection Systems

KRÜGER Payload Control Systems for Wheel Loaders and Dump Trucks offer automatic weighing technology to prevent overloading and to ensure the efficient and economical use of these machines.

KRÜGER Programmable Switching Amplifiers protect cranes and container transporters in harbours and industrial areas. Thanks to their free and easy programming they are used in a lot of similar applications.

KRÜGER Load Indicators with Overload Protection for Gantry (EOT) Cranes offer optimized utilization of the equipment and provide the greatest possible protection of the drivers to reduce the operating costs effectively.

The KRÜGER PCD-Indicator with integrated micro-processor features clear and easy to read information by an LC-Display and user-friendly data input. It offers various memories to store different material, trucks or customers and is designed to meet rough operating conditions (working temperature from -25°C to +70°C).

The double-line LC-Display shows the:

  • code number of the actual data memory
  • information on the measuring process
  • target load
  • actual load
  • total load

Automatic weighing for wheel loaders without the need to stop the loading process to take the load information is performed by KRÜGER’s DLR (Dynamic Load Recording) technology. Data transfer to an on-board printer or by downloading to a personal computer is possible by use of the integrated interface.

The Programmable Switching Amplifier PAS 3/1 win shows and monitors precisely the analogue data of the load sensors, which are used when the crane is operated. It is possible to freely programme the processing of this data using numerous software components available for this purpose. Programming is done simply and quickly using the software configuration manager via PC laptop. The load data from the crane can be added, subtracted, multiplied with the fixed and variable values and subsequently compared. Reference is made to differing crane configurations via digital inputs, that activates certain adjustments inside the PSA 3/1 win. Finally the data is monitored in comparison with the maximum load of the crane. In all unsafe situations due to overloading, underloading or off-centre loading, disturbance of a sensor or other defects the relevant relays will cut off immediately in order to return the crane to a safe condition. A special dynamic monitoring system also recognises if a load is wedged or hooked up and secures the crane in such situations.

The KRÜGER Large Numerical Displays are equipped with bright LEDs and are ideal for use wherever the weight of the lifted load must be legible at greater distance. They are available as stand-alone displays (sensor together with large numerical display) or as a supplement to the operator’s cab-installed display.

The Basic Switching Amplifier BSA is an easy and economic safety system for all applications, where 2 loadsensor inputs and 3 cut-off relays are sufficient. A popular combination for EOT cranes is the BSA together with the rope tensiometer R1.1. is clamped on the end of the lifting rope. Without the need to cut or dismount anything. Only a fixed spanner SW 24, a screw driver and voltmeter are required for complete configuration and commissioning. The use of an efficient micro-controller supplies the system with a high degree of safety and precision at a reasonable price.

Special Applications

a5
KRÜGER height and slew angle limiters for road-rail excavators define and monitor spatial mobility of the construction machine.

KRÜGER Displays for drilling machines provide important data to support and control the drilling operation.

KRÜGER overload warning systems for heavy-duty vehicles control the permissible axle load and protect the vehicles from overloading on public roads.

For every job done by an excavator in spatially limited places there must be assurance that the excavator boom maintains a safety limit when swivelling. Whether in the case of bridge constructions or overhead lines on railways the HSL system enables exact limitation of the area in which the excavator is permitted to manoeuvre. First of all the maximum permissible height of the boom and maximum permissible slew angle of the revolving superstructure is entered and the blocked via a key-operated switch, so that it is not possible to alter this data by mistake via the keyboard. These limiting values and the current height and slew angle of the boom and revolving superstructure are shown on the clearly designed display. An optical signal shows the driver of the excavator if he is approaching the pre-set limits. An additional acoustic warning marks the limits if reached. On approaching the critical zone the speed of the movement is reduced and is blocked completely on reaching the limits.

The KRÜGER lever-drivel Angle sensor covers the angle between two swivelling booms, whereby the mechanical connection is via driving rods specifically for this application.

The KRÜGER System NWD constantly measures before and during the drilling operation the data which are most relevant for the success of it:
the inclination in one or both axis (x, y), the actual depth, the hydraulic pressure.

The depth can be measured in two different ways. For small depths, analogue length sensor is recommended, whereas large depth can be measured incrementally, i.e. the system creates counting pluses which NWD calculates to display the depth. Using this method, very large depths can be measured with only little effort in material.

For all displayed values: Inclination X-axis, Inclination Y-axis, depth and pressure, the user can set limiting values. With that, NWD is able to stop the drilling machine automatically via its 4 relay contacts, as soon as one of the limits is reached. Simultaneously, an optical and acoustical alarm is given by its warning lights and the beeper.

Already when approaching the limits, a pre-warning makes it possible for the operator to react in time to control the drilling action.
All displayed values can be tared, i.e. set to zero.

The TWS system is activated already during loading, gauges the load on the axles and warns of overloading with a blinking signal. Two sensors – one on the front axle and the other one on the rear axles – measure the axle load. The handy display and control console in the driver’s cabin evaluates the values and show the results in tons on activating a button. As soon as 90% of the permissible load on one of the axles is reached the display switches automatically to this axle and releases the warning signal. Thus the driver and loading staff keep the weight of the load under control at all times even when shifting loads. The robust construction – developed for daily use under the hardest conditions – and also the reasonable relationship between price and performance speak for the equipment of transport vehicles with the TWS from PAT in order to exclude all problems due to overloading from the start.

Finally safety and reliability should also have priority in goods transport.
